Kids.now and State Farm® Canada have teamed-up to help students make positive life choices.
Kids.now is an after-school program that trains passionate volunteers to become coaches and guide young people away from making decisions that could negatively affect their futures.
Coaches help kids develop the skills to deal with issues such as drugs, bullying, family stress or other life issues. These coaches also show kids how to make the right choices for a healthy, satisfying and productive life.
When a school is interested in offering the kids.now program, kids.now chooses a volunteer coach best suited for the interested school. Teachers at participating schools select students in grades 7 and 8 to be mentored by kids.now coaches.
From 2009 to 2010, State Farm® Canada has donated over $250,000 to help kids.now and their continued growth within our communities. Together, State Farm® and kids.now are playing a crucial role in developing our children for a brighter future.
In 2010, three outstanding kids.now coaches received the State Farm® Good Neighbour Award for their exceptional volunteer work to make a positive difference in kids’ lives. A $25,000 contribution was made to kids.now by State Farm® Canada on behalf of each of the three award winners.
You can help kids.now by recommending a school in your neighbourhood that could benefit from the kids.now program, apply to become a volunteer coach or attend the graduation ceremony at a local kids.now school. For more information, visit kidsnowcanada.org.
