State Farm® has a long history of being environmentally responsible. Throughout the years, the Company has reduced energy use, emissions and waste, increased alternative fuel vehicles in its fleet and offered paperless billing to customers.
In April 2010, State Farm® was named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for our environmental efforts presented by Mediacorp Canada Inc.

Green Facilities
The Canadian head office has been constructed with energy efficient time-controlled lighting, state-of-the-art heating, ventilation and landscaping that features natural planting and a moisture sensor sprinkler system that operates only when required. Our office furniture is also made from recycled material.
State Farm® has maintained a recycling program for 26 years, recycling and reusing more than 900 tonnes of materials in 2009 and has implemented an electronic claim payment system, electronic payroll as well as accepting only electronic resumes.
Green Community
At State Farm®, we support an internal Green Committee that is made up of employees to engage our workforce in promoting environmental awareness and green solutions to reduce our impact in the community.
We have also integrated hybrid vehicles into our fleet with plans to purchase more fuel efficient vehicles. State Farm® also encourages employees to car pool and approximately 30% of our workforce has signed up with Smart Commute to make a positive change in their daily commute.
