State Farm® now accepting applications for Associate Youth Advisory Board
members
Deadline for applications is March 31, 2009
Aurora, ON, February 2, 2009 -- State Farm Youth Advisory Board is seeking Associate Board Members
to serve through 2010.
Associate Youth Advisory Board members receive a $3,000 scholarship to be used for postsecondary
education. Associate members may become Board members with a second year of service and receive a
$5,000 scholarship.
“The State Farm Youth Advisory Board is an opportunity to serve on a national board with other highly
motivated, autonomous young people,” said a current Youth Advisory Board member. “We are
empowered by a dedicated corporation to create real, longlasting
change.”
The State Farm Youth Advisory Board is comprised of 30 young adults ages 1720
from communities
across Canada and the United States. Applicants are being sought from the provinces State Farm
operates within Canada: Alberta, Ontario and New Brunswick. The Board’s mission is to create and
oversee a signature service learning
initiative to address pressing issues that have a direct impact on
communities. Youth Board members are responsible for identifying these issues, overseeing the site
selections and grant making process, providing technical assistance to the site grantees, and assisting
with communications and outreach.

The application deadline to join the Youth Advisory Board is March 31. Selected applicants will be notified

About the Youth Advisory Board
The State Farm Youth Advisory Board is a diverse group of 30 youth, ages 1720, who were chosen through a competitive process to lead and oversee this $5 million/year signature service learning initiative. The Youth Board identified the issues, issued competitive grants and will now provide technical assistance, communication and oversight to site grantees.
