State Farm insures 1 millionth vehicle in Canada

1 millionth auto policy-in-force comes in a historic year

Aurora, Ontario. August 18, 2008 -- State Farm celebrates its 70th anniversary in Canada by welcoming its 1 millionth auto policy-in-force.

More than 1500 employees and 518 agents work closely to serve Canadian customers using State Farm’s world renowned “good neighbour” promise. It’s this commitment to customer service that has helped build core relationships in the 3 provinces we do business in; Alberta, Ontario and New Brunswick.

Bob Cooke, State Farm Canada’s Senior Vice President, is proud of the milestone. “We continue our vibrant growth in Canada and welcoming our 1 millionth auto policy customer is a significant accomplishment. Auto insurance is our core product and allows our agents to address and discuss other needs with our customers, including home and life insurance and financial services,” says Cooke. “In the last 3 and half years we have achieved an auto policy growth of 150,000 and continue on pace to achieve the 10 year vision we set in 2004 of reaching 1.4 million auto customers by the end of 2014. It’s a tribute to the teamwork of our people and solidifies the trust placed in us by our Canadian customers.”

State Farm Canada issued its first auto insurance policy in 1938. Since then it has grown to become Canada’s fourth largest automotive insurer, one policy at a time.
