State Farm® looks to the future with $75,000 grant for youth education
Rexdale, ON, February 23, 2009 -- State Farm® through the State Farm Youth
Advisory Board is proud to provide a $75,000 grant to the Albion Neighbourhood
Services & Boys and Girls Club, for United We Stand – a youth led panel focused on
promoting the educational advancements for youth.
“As ‘Good Neighbours’ in the communities we live and work in, our focus is to help
people recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams. Encouraging young
people to realize their dreams towards post secondary education is a message of hope
we all benefit from,” said David Owens, Agency Field Consultant for State Farm.
Owens presented the grant to Bryan Cando and Xavier McLaughlin of Albion
Neighbourhood Services & Boys and Girls Clubs, who submitted the grant application to
State Farm’s Youth Advisory Board. Approximately 500 grant requests were received
from across North America, with 73 organizations awarded with a Youth Advisory Board
grant.
2009 is the third year of the State Farm Youth Advisory Board Grants, with a total of
over $300,000 in grants being provided to Canadian groups. State Farm is currently
accepting applications for the 20092010
season at www.statefarmyab.com.
Awarding the grant on February 23 rd is also symbolic as today is International Corporate
Philanthropic Day – a day to build awareness of corporatecommunity partnerships.
With the current economic challenges many charitable groups and organizations face
greater needs. Organizations such as State Farm remain committed to assisting them.
