Board offers scholarships and opportunity to oversee a $5 million service-learning initiative
Aurora, Ontario. August 25, 2011. – State Farm is once again hitting the high school gridiron and kicking off Friday Night Feats, a fan-fuelled video contest that finds the greatest moments of the football season. State Farm is seeking young adults to apply for a position on the State Farm Youth Advisory Board (YAB). The YAB helps shape future leaders by inviting young adults to apply for a position on a board whose mission is to oversee a $5 million signature service-learning initiative and address pressing issues that have a direct impact on communities.The YAB is comprised of 30 young adults ages 17-20 from communities across North America. Members are responsible for identifying pressing community issues, overseeing the grant making process, and assisting with communication and outreach.
The Board’s work is handled through four in-person meetings at State Farm Corporate headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, or at other locations within the U.S. Primary commitment to the board and time working is through electronic communications between meetings. The expectation is that all Board members will commit 15 hours per month to board activities.

The application deadline is Monday, October 3, 2011. Selected applicants will be notified by November.

The State Farm Youth Advisory Board is a diverse group of 30 youth, ages 17-20, who were chosen through a competitive process to lead and oversee this $5 million/year signature service-learning initiative. The Youth Board identified the issues, issued competitive grants and will now provide technical assistance, communication and oversight to site grantees.
