Smart Commute profiles State Farm as key carpool driver

One in three State Farm employees involved in carpooling creates positive environmental impact, cost savings and reduced stress

Aurora, Ontario.  February 07, 2012.  – In keeping with its commitment to environmental issues, State Farm has once again been recognized for its efforts at helping to keep our planet green.

Smart Commute – www.smartcommute.ca – has declared State Farm as having the highest percentage of employees that carpool, from across Smart Commute’s 200+ member businesses in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area. At its Canadian head office in Aurora, Ontario, nearly one-third of State Farm employees carpool to work.

The announcement was made as part of Carpool Week (February 6 to 12, 2012), an annual awareness campaign presented by Metrolinx’s Smart Commute Program, aimed at getting more people to share the ride to work.

The State Farm Aurora Operations Centre features 100 dedicated carpool parking spots that are filled to capacity each day. Almost 200 carpools have been formed that take advantage of these convenient spots.
